SILKY OAK 14TH AUGUST
Everything pretty much organised.
Darrell at Silky Oak getting plenty of bookings.
Tabled advertisement in the TV Guide of todays Gympie Times – great!!
Timing of bands – Michele to finalise and advise students.
Michele advised that Clare was competing in the Gympie’s Got Talent which is holding its final on the same night as Silky Oak. Noted that Michele and Caitlyn had not participated in the Talent quest due to the possible clash with the Silky Oak performance. Clare has assured Michele that if she makes the finals, she will still be available for the Silky Oak performance.
General discussion that another complete run through of the bands was required. Gary and Murray discussed and Murray directed Gary to talk to Kudy Rudunz to talk to Head of Departments regarding students being excused from normal classes for a practise in the Hall on Thursday of next week between 9am and 12pm.
Gary also advised that he would not be available to attend the performance.
Murray would be in attendance.
Helen also confirmed that Don Reid had indicated he was available to transport the equipment for the gig.
Reiterated that we request students to be at Silky Oak around 5.00pm to help with set-up.
Murray confirmed it was acceptable for Judith Cumner, or anyone else for that matter, to video the performance.
MUSTER STREET PARTY
Helen advised Aiming High, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Michele Blavius, Olivia Nolan and Alice Benfer would be representing CMSOE outside Gympie Musicland. Also reported that the Bandicoots from the AICM and possibly other solo singers will be joining CMSOE at this venue for the 3hour performance.
Bob at Musicland will not be at the shop on the day but is okay for everything to go full steam ahead.
Busking and running of a raffle is being organised.
Helen reported liasing with Kris White with regards to participating in editorial on the performers and write up re the CMSOE to be issued closer to the Street Party.
Gary advised he would not be able to supervise this performance.
Collection of equipment and supervision to be finalised.
TRAILER PURCHASE
Helen confirmed the trailer has been purchased by GSHS from Bob at Gympie Musicland. Currently at the Shaddy household for a minor repair before Silky Oaks. Then some other work to be carried out.
TALENT QUEST - MUSTER
Helen confirmed that Alice had received her paperwork regarding the Talent Quest. Helen gave Michele her information and also information for Clare. Helen queried if Clare was okay with performing on the Friday instead of the Thursday as requested. Michele confirmed all okay. Michele to give to Clare tomorrow morning. Caitlyn has her paperwork.
MUSTER PERFORMANCE
Will fine tune everything after the Silky Oak gig.
Confirmed bus has been booked. Just waiting on invoice.
Gary organising early leave passes/permission forms.
DONATIONS
Helen forgot to mention that Ruth Modein at Rainbow Beach Store had donated $20 cash for fundraising. Rob & Betty Shadbolt had been at Rainbow Beach for the fishing competition and had been around some of the businesses in Rainbow and distributed letters regarding donations. List of people visited to be added to donations register and also let Cathy & Grant McFarlane know as they live in Rainbow Beach and were going to catch up with local businesses also.
CANCER COUNCIL
Gary tabled request from Sarah at local Cancer Council office for students to perform on the 10th October. Unfortunately this clashes with our major fundraiser, Cent Auction. Gary to apologise that we are unable to assist this time. Keep us in mind for next time.
PRACTISE AFTER SCHOOL
Judith queried how she and other parents/students can organise access to the music room to practise after school hours. Murray advised Judith to contact the office regarding the loaning of a key. Murray to advise office to expect Judith. There may not be a key available but it can be cut. Judith to check with office Friday afternoon to see if has been organised and available to collect. Michele also requested a key.
Noted that so long as everyone gone and locked up by 6.00pm using the music room will not be a issue. 6.00pm the alarms go on and you need security access.
TAMWORTH
Helen confirmed we have the gig at the Fitzroy Tavern every day 9.00am to 11.30am. Also Farrer performance. Sorting with Joan at The Pub as to timing and day for a special performance. Geoff at AICM confident the Coca Cola tent will be available again also.
Helen confirmed that a deposit of 20% for the Farrer College needed to be paid by the 30th August. Anticipate that after a successful Silky Oaks performance there should be enough funds to cover deposit. However it was agreed that we need to get a deposit of $50.00 from students who will be going to Tamworth to get the ball rolling. Noted that we have booked accommodation for 15 and the balance 11 to be available for AICM staff and students.
Noted 3 families travelling separate to group – Whittakers, Shadbolt & Nolans. Private accommodation sorted at Farrer. Murray advised he would need separate accommodation – Room 8B would be good. Helen to organise.
Students attending are:
Girl dorm – Michele, Pania, Caitlyn, Karen & Olivia – Alice also attending but will be with her own family. Female supervising – Cann Taylor & Janelle Blavius.
Boy dorm – Aiden, Jared, Brad, Jake, Kyle and Eddie. Male supervising (in dorm) Geoff, Don – probably Ron J.
Noted that Gary would not be able to commit for Tamworth so all agreed that Murray would be supervising students as well as Geoff Waldren, AICM. Noted we would have to make parents aware of this situation. Very likely Don Reid will be there and also Ron J.
Helen reported that if fundraising continues as anticipated (and hoped), approx. cost for the CMSOE students will be around $250.00. This will depend greatly on the success of the Cent Auction in October.
Noted that in previous years there has been a Code of Conduct letter issued to students who join the CMSOE which relates to students behaviour as representing CMSOE, but also their attendance at Tamworth. Murray suggested Ron would have a copy of letter. Helen to talk to Ron.
General discussion about facilities at Farrer and additional cooking facilities that we take with us (BBQ small, 2nd microwave). Also advised that the College offers sausage sizzler at very reasonable rates.
Helen confirmed that AICM wanted to join up with CMSOE as in past years. Problem Geoff has is getting commitment for numbers. General discussion regarding AICM involvement and contribution towards bus, fuel, food, etc. Helen to table letter to AICM.
